Galaktoboureko is a lovely and unique dessert that holds a special place in our hearts. With its Anatolian roots, its name means milk + mpoureki, or “brek”, the Turkish word for thin fyllo pie which is to be stuffed with some sort of filling, in this case a sweet creamy one. As our cultures are very connected, various galaktompoureko recipes from Turkey and especially Izmir came to Greece overtime. Our yayaka's version combines aromas such as rosewater and turmeric with refreshing Greek classics such as lemon zest, cinnamon and pistachio.
